Activities and Events under FSA Program

Following are some basic activities and events which Firefox Student Ambassadors can easily hold & organize on campus and get fellow FSAs/students to participate in them. The information below will help you in determining How to Contribute/Get Involved with Mozilla in different functional areas.

1. Firefox Day

1. a) InstallFest – Install/Update Firefox on all computers in your university’s labs
2. b) Explore Firefox features – Firefox Hello, Firefox Sync, Firefox Accounts, Tiles,

Customization, Awesome bar, Pocket Integration, Firefox Share, Social & Email
Activation Services, Add-ons, Themes, Plugins, Profiles, Firefox Release Channels, etc.

1. c) Privacy Day – Explore Firefox Privacy features like Do Not Track, Private Browsing,

Tracking Protection with Control Centre, Forget button, Lightbeam addon, Focus for iOS,
Privacy Coach add-on for Firefox for Android, etc.

1. d) Campaign Challenge – Hold a session for the current on-going FSA Campaign Challenge
2. e) Developers Day – Try out Firefox Developer Edition & different Firefox Developer Tools

You can use these combinations for 1+ hour activity:  a + b  ,  a + c  ,  a + d  ,  a + e

2. Mozilla Learning Network

• Increase Web Literacy using these Tools
• Teach the Web – Using these Activities with Thimble and X-Ray Goggles
• Maker Party –
  1. Using one of these themes
  2. HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript workshop using Thimble

• Learn Webmaker App for Android using these Slides

3. Mozilla Privacy and Advocacy

Mozilla supports the heroes of the Web — the developers, advocates and people who fight to protect and advance the open Internet.

• Learn from the “Smart On” series about Tracking, Security and Surveillance
• Learn who’s watching you on the Web — and how to fight back using the Private Eye activity
• Teach others about net neutrality by running a tech-in to help people learn about and take action on net neutrality using the Net Neutrality Teaching Kit

4. l10n Localization Sprints

Translate Mozilla products like Firefox, Firefox OS, Thunderbird, Firefox Addons, Firefox OS Apps, etc. and Mozilla websites like Webmaker, SUMO, Firefox Marketplace, etc. in your local language:

• Mozilla Locomotion
• Mozilla Pontoon

• Transifex

5. Mozilla Support (SUMO)

• Answer Questions on the Mozilla Support Forum,
• Join Army of Awesome to provide support over Twitter,
• Write KB articles,
• Translate KB articles,
• Participate in the monthly global SUMO Day,
• Hold a SUMO Day in your campus lab

6. Mozilla QA

• Complete One and Done Tasks,
• Test & Verify Bugs,
• Participate in Testdays,
• Join a specific Team

7. Firefox Marketplace

• Contribute to Add-ons,
• Contribute to Apps

8. Mozilla Developer Network – Create/Modify/Document/Localize MDN articles

9. Stumbling in a Box – Using MozStumbler App on Firefox for Android
